The year 2019 theme is Threads
My first raw idea appears below
I still have to work a lot more on it or change my idea still.
My January 2016 Newsletter
This is my newest adventure, yes painting fish on small sea rocks at the request of a local restaurateur.
The fish rocks will be on display at their restaurant. It will be interesting to see what comments they draw.
My method is:
Try to find smooth rocks and not too large in the hand, wash and scrub, then dry them overnight.
Use sandpaper before coating the surface with gesso, then sand again when dry.
Sketch up the fish and start placing first coat of color with Acrylic paint, sand down after dry.
It will take 3-4 coats of paint to get them to "talk" to you.
After finishing I brush a coat of Matt Gel Medium Acrylic all over them. When it is dry I write the name of the fish in large letters on the back side of the rock and my name "Gallery Steinu".
I will be adding some other kind of fish later but hope in mean time that you enjoyed
my little instructions my friends.
